Echo St. Germain

Hi, I'm Echo! I'm currently a PhD student at Northeastern University studying Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. I'm also someone with a lot of opinions on scientific communication and STEM education. I currently live in Boston with my husband, two cats, and my younger sister.

This website contains a summary of my work and research experience I can send to people. It also has compressed digitalization of some art, random thoughts, things I find interesting, and files I want easy access to. The intended audience is me, future me, and those close to me.

I created this site as a place to set aside, collect, and store things independent of social media. The files live on my desktop and are pushed to GitHub to host the website (a better organization method in my opinion compared to folders in folders in folders...).

This website is pretty nostalgic for me and inspired by old websites. Many years ago I had a Tumblr blog with maybe 10 followers. HTML/CSS was the first code I wrote (its status as a programming language seems to be up for debate?), followed by silly calculator programs. The ability to customize a website and put my ideas onto a digital medium (which at the time felt more permanent than paper) was groundbreaking to middle school me. Nowadays I am much better at Python than HTML/CSS and used my school's Claude subscription to help create some of the more complicated features on this website.
